The Radiology Department

The Department based at the Lister Hospital, is a large, modern friendly department. It is well equipped, supporting a wide spectrum of radiological services, including a full range of interventional work, both vascular and renal. The department has a high profile within the Trust and we enjoy excellent relationships with our local General Practitioners.

Quality

We are committed to the provision of a high standard of service and for some time have been accredited to ISO9002 (formerly known as BS5750). The process of clinical audit, encompassing all staff groups, is routine in the department and all staff actively contribute to it.

Staffing

Within the directorate there are six Consultant Radiologists, a Services Manager and a Superintendent Radiographer. All six Consultant Radiologists belong to the North Herts Radiology Group. The number of radiographic staff is under continued review, ensuring our staffing levels match changes in service provision. The radiography staff are supported by radiology department assistants, who provide help in the clinical and administrative areas.

Nuclear Medicine
4 Ultrasound machines 3 of which provide a Colour Doppler service
Breast Assessment including Mammography Service

The radiology department has a very dynamic outlook and is keen to develop all its staff, as demonstrated by our commitment to the national standard of 'Investors in People'. We enjoy good teamwork, both within the department and with other services in the Trust, and are committed to the provision of excellent radiological services.
